Resources for Aboriginal People

AOD Knowledge Centre - Tobacco Portal

This web resource provides quality information and resources to support the reduction of harms associated with tobacco use among Aboriginal people.

No Smokes

An innovative anti-smoking initiative that uses videos, animations, music, games and other fun stuff to help young Aboriginal people quit smoking. It also has resources for teachers and health professionals that work with Aboriginal youth.

Quitline Aboriginal Liaison Team (QALT)

QALT has developed a number of culturally appropriate resources that contain information about the Quitline, the harmful impact of tobacco use and useful advice on quitting smoking.

SIDS and KIDS - Reducing the risk of SUDI in Aboriginal Communities (RROSIAC) program

The RROSIAC program endeavours to educate Aboriginal families and health professionals about the risk that smoke exposure poses for babies during pregnancy and after birth as a part of the six safe sleeping recommendations.

Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program

Local Aboriginal health services through their TIS program have resources that are specific to their region. Click here for a list of TIS teams located across WA that can help you identify what resources you may be able to use with people accessing your services.

Mental Health Resources

The Australian Government in collaboration with Sane Australia has developed brochures for people living with a mental illness who would like to reduce and quit smoking. They also have information for people that are supporting people living with a mental illness to quit.

The Australian Government has posters, information sheets and flyers that have been designed for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, and people from culturally and linguistically giverse backgrounds.
