Breaking the cycle of smoking at the organisational level

People from at risk groups carry a disproportionate and unjust amount of the death, disease, grief and financial stress caused by high smoking rates.

If your organisation values social justice and fairness and has a mission to improve the wellbeing and opportunities of the people they work with, it is already directly aligned with addressing smoking within your organisation.

Addressing smoking within your organisation can lead to real benefits for your clients and strengthen other goals they may have, from securing stable accommodation to recovering from substance misuse. While staff have an important role in supporting your clients to quit, it is essential that your organisation puts in place strategies to contribute to reducing health inequalities for the long-term.

Organisations committed to being part of the solution

Organisations from a diverse range of services have started the two-step process towards reducing tobacco-related health and financial inequalities. Your organisation can start the process by first signing an agreement to show that your organisation recognises that smoking causes unacceptable inequalities and is committed to doing something about it.
