Project OverviewAs part of the program, services will be guided through a Make Smoking History project. Each project aims to: Ensure people accessing health and community services are routinely offered information and support to reduce and quit smoking; and Improve people’s access to healthy smoke free environments. This is done by identifying strategies across seven priority areas. Each strategy is tailored to be specific to the organisation’s needs. The best policies are well thought out, widely consulted and clearly communicated. 2) Organisational culture and values The behavioural norms, attitudes and the shared value of an organisation to make smoking history will influence how people engage in and are motivated to achieve the project’s goals. 3) Physical environments An organisation’s physical environment is what supports and helps to change shared culture and values. 4) Staff learning and development Building the capacity and confidence of new and existing staff through ongoing training is an important step towards making smoking history in an organisation. 5) Organisational process and procedures Integrating opportunities to provide ongoing support, information and advice to both staff and people accessing services ensures that all people have the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing. 6) Monitoring, evaluation and learning Assessing the effectiveness of our work, learning from it and adapting to improve practises allow us to have the greatest impact. 7) Organisational engagement To successfully create change, it’s important to ensure that the people affected by the project are involved in the project.
